BGTC Monday and Advance KY

Sue Neal and I, as well as, several other ACS AP teachers attended the Advance KY meeting in Louisville this weekend.  Sessions on Friday evening and most of Saturday.  In the AP Biology sessions ... how the 2013 test will change (more inquiry), then sessions on big topics ... Crick's Central Dogma, modeling concepts, Photosynthesis/Respiration, Mitosis/Meiosis and Cell Communication.  Some good ideas but, generally a lot of what we already do.

Lots of good teacher-teacher conversation about schools, schedules, labs and concepts.  Coach Hahus from Apollo was there and we spend some time identifying several wildflowers from pictures I had taken last summer and during the fall.  He is the man on species identification! Many other AP Bio teachers from across Kentucky and it is great to know that so many good teachers are doing great science for students.  Public education may still make it!

Got back late Saturday.  Today, I will have to write several GSP recommendations, so, probably go into school later when it is raining.

Monday, Ms. Pruitt and I will be taking a group of students from ACS to Bowling Green Technical College for a tour of their three Bowling Green campuses.

Next week. we only have school on Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving vacation.
