Took a couple pictures yesterday after feeding our bees of the first woodland wildflowers I have found in 2013 ...
Hepatica americana (
Hepatica nobilis). They were on a south facing rocky slope near a woodland road to what we call the goat field.
A perennial in the buttercup family ... it was as a treatment for liver ailments because the leaves look like the three lobes of the liver.
