AP Lab 4 finished on to Lab 5

Sandy, Vivien and Aaron working on lab day...

We completed AP Lab 4 on Monday and finished up the data analysis today in AP Biology ... This lab included chromatography to separate photosynthetic pigments AND a spectrophotometer lab to show the difference between three conditions ... unboiled in the light, unboilded in the dark and boiled in the light. We used DPIP as an indicator of light reactions of photosynthesis ... substitutes for NADP+.  We mostly got good results ... lab reports due later in the week.  We also had a classroom discussion on enzymes today.  Tomorrow is a prep up for Lab 5 - Respiration and our Chapter on Cell Communication.

In Selected Topics we reviewed for our biology test tomorrow and we started our earth science unit with a study of isobars and weather map reading.

We had practice yesterday 5-7 for our older players and hitting today after school for grades MS - 10th grade.  Tomorrow all players lift.  Today while Coach Carter conducted hitting practice, I walked on some annual ryegrass (100 lbs.) on our softball field.  Also I sprayed some roundup around the edge of the field.

This evening I worked on a Keynote presentation on Cell Communication.

Very warm for the last day of January ... 66 degrees F. (19 degrees C)  ... certainly a weird winter for weather ... too warm.
